Dating swiss guys - can help
My husband is Swiss (I'm American), and while I know all men differ regardless of their culture/nationality, I can say that my Swiss husband is probably one of the least "silly" men I have ever known... in the sense that he rarely makes me laugh or "gets" a joke. It didn't bother me too much in the beginning, because (to be honest), I think I was kind of idealizing him as the "sexy foreign man" at the time and I was also swooned by other things like his intellect, etc. But now, after 5 years of marriage, I do think it's come to bother me a bit. The differences in our personalities didn't seem to emerge as a "problem" until we were living together and married and it was no longer just a long-distance relationship. I think the realities of a relationship don't really set in until you're living together or at least with each other for quite some time.
My best advice to you is... take your time and don't rush into anything. But if you do think you're serious about this guy, do try to spend as much time with him (in person) as possible before doing anything drastic like moving here, etc. I had made the mistake(?) of moving here simply because I was desperate to end the torment of the long-distance thing. And now, in hindsight, I realize that I should have gotten to know him -- and the dynamics of our relationship -- better first.
Whatever happens, I do hope things work out the best for you!
