It's sort of the comedy bone My First Girlfriend is a Gal throws at us nearly She's the girl in the lower left of the box art on the top right of the review body; the imagination is at least not all rape-y and unsettling, just boring and cliche'd, Have we really not moved on from the 80's tendency to portray all sad main losers'. So the very first image of the first episode is a censored upskirt shot....interesting choice.

Quite the cast as well :heh:. I kind of worry that childhood friend is going to fall over and never get back up with that utter imbalance she has going on. I'm impressed the MC has the nerve to complain about his romantic situation when the first few minutes reflect the multitude of options he could easily pursue.

It is kind of impressive how utterly worthless his friends are. There is seemingly no effort to give them any redeeming qualities whatsoever. Complaining about their situation, but actively making it worse by trying to harass the rest of the class. One of them seems destined for jail...

On the positive side after this first episode is that no crimes were committed by the main cast!

BEST side characters ever!!!

I watched the uncensored version today.

Man, the main male protagonist really is pathetic lol

3 seconds after watching the chapter and I drop it, it was good that I saw there's was a uncensored version.

Anyway there's a lot of complain as manga reader but I'll stick for now because they made the protagonist way funnier here, I think the voice and more scenes help a lot.

remind me... how did he win that bargain again?
Or is she just toying around lol?

Before working on getting a girlfriend, he should working on getting some not shitty friends.

Before working on getting a girlfriend, he should working on getting some not shitty friends.I'd support that idea. He has some remarkably terrible people as friends. One seems on the verge of becoming a criminal! He's not that much better than them, but he's enough so. They are going to drag him down with them.

Despite that he is in this group of supposedly unpopular boys, he clearly has so many girls falling for him (from the OP)?
Yeah, makes sense. Kinda how like the weakest guy isn't the weakest or Level 0 isn't powerless.
No.
And this girl he knows that visits him often enough isn't known by the friends he is usually with? Sure.
No.

Anyways, putting that aside, the character designs are fine.
But the tempo of the first episode was terrible, as it spent at least 90% of the time just broadcasting the gross thoughts of the boys. And it frankly isn't funny, only saved by the fact Asanuma has trained his tsukkomi skills in Seitokai Yakuindomo.
A trashy (this itself not a bad thing) anime indeed, but I hope it spends less time on the guys and is a bit more entertaining to watch in future episodes.

This doesn't compute for me—there are massive subjective leaps in the progression :p Hopefully, upcoming episodes flow more logically.

What's with these shows about Gal girls who are genuine, sweet, caring and "best girl" material? This and "Oshiete Galko-chan" :heh:
Not that I'm complaining :p

I'd support that idea. He has some remarkably terrible people as friends. One seems on the verge of becoming a criminal! He's not that much better than them, but he's enough so. They are going to drag him down with them.

He's not exactly upstanding himself. In a more normal group, he'd be the most dysfunctional one.

I don't know if i can watch a show that basically just progressed on near-hentai level logic. It's so dumb that i'm wondering whether author is trying to troll us or not.

As they say "Throw enough mud at the wall, some of it will stick", I think many opportunities are better than nothing in any cases. :heh:

Well MC has a girlfriend now, maybe he can now lose those shitty friends. Seriously they're just dragging him down, granted, the MC is not that much better but it seems he can pull himself up enough so long as his 'friends' stop cutting the damn rope.

I have to say I felt a little contempt toward those girls who were looking down at the guys for reading gravure in school, shortly after they'd been standing in front of those guys eagerly getting groped and kissing and basically letting the world see them in a way that sexualizes them at least as much (and frankly if a boyfriend is willing to grab his girl's breasts in front of a bunch of other guys then he's just about guaranteed viewing her the same way those guys look at the magazines). And I at least can understand them acting out of a motivation to make those people uncomfortable. Seriously, they have no place to feel any contempt about these guys doing that in class. This isn't to say that the guys aren't themselves very contemptible, only that the girls that are looking down at them and the guys that were manhandling girls in public are no better. At least in that instance. The later crap those guys pull on the other hand...

Still, I get the feeling that we're going to have a good degree of harem vibes from this, with a lot of other girls revealing an interest; we already have the obvious childhood friend who desperately needs a reduction.

On a side note, from the moment flashback, are we going to wind up with another of those stories where a hero fell for a girl only to see her confessing to, kissing or going further with another guy? A sort of NTR trauma from the past that hurt him? Seen that quite a lot, often in shows way better than this. But I don't mind it, and hey, maybe if I'm lucky this one will show me the one thing I've always wanted with those backstories: the girl is brought back into the story and she winds up falling for the hero whose heart she broke, only for it to be too late as he's the one who's now taken. I've always wanted to see something like that any time I see a flashback of the guy's first big crush getting serious with another guy, as well as all cases where he catches the girl insulting him behind his back or publicly humiliating him. Haven't ever gotten my wish yet, but I can still hope that this will be the one.

I got through the episode by skipping a lot.

Those "friends" of his are horrific. And his thoughts during the dogeza were almost as bad.

If those friends get almost-zero screen time from now on (happens a lot in these shows), the main character gets a bit of respect for the girl then it might be watchable?

Well maybe. I mean you've got that children friend character design too, urgh.

Well MC has a girlfriend now, maybe he can now lose those shitty friends. Seriously they're just dragging him down, granted, the MC is not that much better but it seems he can pull himself up enough so long as his 'friends' stop cutting the damn rope.

In the absence of his "friends", he seemed alright while talking to Nene and Yui. I hope we see less of those guys as this season wears on, they're mood-breakers.

I'll say only one thing in defense of those "friends". As I said before, a lot of the existing girlfriends and boyfriends are no better. Frankly, I see little difference between the disturbance and influence of the jerks that spend all their time talking porn and reading gravure in class and the guys that spend all their free time grabbing their girlfriends in public without any concern about who sees, or the girls who happily let their boyfriends do this. This is in itself sick and perverse in my opinion, and most definitely at least as frustrating and tempting to a guy who doesn't seem to have ever gotten more than his current position, watching other people doing it right in front of him.

Not that I'm complaining :p

I like it, it is providing a balance and humanizing a stereotype that was often used as fodder for "bad people" in school-themed shounen manga.

It doesn't applies in this situation.

It doesn't applies in this situation.

How does it not apply? On the one side the guy has people who do perverse things and try to tempt him to do perverse things in public too, and on the other he has people who do perverse things out in the open, leaving him to wallow in the fact that he cannot do those perverse things in public.

As far as the stuff they do later goes, yes, they are absolute scum, but in their initial part, the rest of the cast of extras are just as horrible in my opinion as the jerks. And as I said before, I find it hard to believe that a guy who would grope his girlfriend's boobs and butt in front of peers, some of whom are known to be people like those "friends", looks at women or his girlfriend in an even slightly different way. It's really a demonstration of two groups of guys who think the same way and want the same thing and don't mind indulging in front of others, and the only difference is one group has to indulge with pictures while the other group has warm bodies they can use.

My point is that the guy only has a handful of people shown on screen so far who are worth associating with or in any way better companions than the friends everyone's hating on, and I suspect all of those are going to wind up as harem members.

It goes way, Way back:

https://myanimelist.net/manga/89/Gals

this guy is annoying s f*ck. funny episode? I can't enjoy much the comedy and what's with that censorship? is that part of the manga? weird one but I'll stay for few episodes. I just can't stand this type of guy.

To add on to the gyaru, I think it's a bit of a bleed over from the popularity of "Biri Gyraru" (aka "Flying Colours"), the third highest Live Action grossing movie of its year. I honestly think Gyaru style is about as opposite as the style that the general anime otaku is interested in, with gyaru characters being labelled a lot as a 'bitch' in anime and them actually being portrayed as more beautiful when they lose their makeup. So the producers animating two different series with gyarus as the heroines must be from other interest that has recently sprung, and Biri Gyaru sounds about right.

In any case, I'm glad the MC is already going out with the heroine from episode one, as it saves me the headache of watching the entire series just to know if the childhood friend wins or not. Oh well, for every Konbini Kareshi, Tsurezure Children, and high hopefuls like Knights 'n Magic, there must be some like Hajimete no Gal. Can't win everytime, else it gets boring, right?

Is this a show about slutty girls?

The boys in the series, they think having a girlfriend is like being successful in life or something.
And not having one is a loser in life.

Just looking at the main protagonist's ambition, we are just supposed to laugh at it.
But still kind of sad deep down.

holding hands or arm is perverse now?

By that definition, I'm a weak, pathetic, milquetoast piece of human garbage on the virtue of being single :heh: Jokes aside, if the protagonist were the kind of guy to not worry about this stuff, there'd be no story at all.

holding hands or arm is perverse now?

Did you read past my first line before posting this? Wrapping arms and holding hands isn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the guy standing in a classroom with lots of guys grabbing at their presumed girlfriends' butts and breasts, groping them in front of everybody, and a couple of guys who pull out gravure mags. Such a degree of groping is most certainly "acting perversely", at least when done in public, so my statement stands: one group showed off perverse acts he couldn't do and the other demonstrated perverse acts he could do that would make that first group uncomfortable, and that first group frankly in my opinion is no better than the latter and has no right to show contempt toward them.

Is Minoru really into elementary school kids?

Is Minoru really into elementary school kids?

Oppai lolis I think.

I thought the first ep was pretty funny. Maybe a bit lowbrow sometimes, but i had a good time watching it.

Okay. I guess I watch this like a mindless zombie.

This was rather painful to watch. It looks less like a parody and more like a parody on a parody, so exaggerated is it. The only character who does not come across as a simple 1-trait cardboard character is the gyaru, and it is unclear whether this is because she has some depth of character or just because the plot demands that she act out of character in order for the anime not to stop at episode 1. I don' really see myself waiting to find out.

Not a manga-reader but I enjoy this so far because, at the very least, this episode didn't bore me with painfully cheesy and predictable events like similarly ecchi anime like To-Love-Ru or Highschool DxD. It even has the potential to be more entertaining than the generic fantasy/isekai series out there (especially that one series about isekai-smartphone with God being on the speed-dial :eyebrow:). During the episode, I actually find myself looking forward to Yukana's reactions for every stupid things that the MC did in front of her which is more than I can say for almost all the protag-girls in DxD who will forgive everything that the MC did to them because they are simply lusting for his dick abandoning all their self-resect & dignity in the process. That's boring. Let's hope HajiGal won't go that way and we'll see enough juicy conflicts & chemistry between the characters. And since both MCs started dating in the first episode, let's hope this won't turn into Nisekoi too (that anime was only hardly-saved from mediocrity due to Shaft's style of execution).

From what I see, pretty much all the characters (maybe except for Yukana?) being pathetic is intentional. So as long as these pathetic people's antics entertain me, this could be my guilty pleasure of the season.

The girls in DxD were all Demons though.

The girls in DxD were all Demons though. Is that supposed to make DxD better and the fact that the girls in it who practically being the MC's sluts 24/7 if he so desired less lame? No, absolutely not. And yes, they are still girls (one of them is even an ex-nun, for gods sake). Even Morrigan Aensland, who is a freakin' succubus, has more dignity and self-respect than them. From a story standpoint, their characters (beyond their introductions and character moments that doesn't involve MC) are boring. They're basically just slutting themselves for the MC who doesn't even have the balls to go all the way. I'd rather watch Hugh Hefner's everyday life than that.

Not to mention DxD's action-fantasy part is super-mediocre and ultra-cheesy that it's painful to watch. When your story is more cheesy than One Piece and Naruto, you know you have a problem. The ecchi humor in it is not even funny.

Anyway, we're being quite OT now. If you want to continue, send me a PM.

they had to dial up the big titty loli to 11...good lord I hate those sort of overboard character designs

and for the love of god...his friends...holy shit

they had to dial up the big titty loli to 11...good lord I hate those sort of overboard character designsI agree. God forbid if they made her breast bigger than the manga which I know nothing of.

and for the love of god...his friends...holy shitThe borderline-pedo chub is the cherry on top. Even the pathetic MC acknowledged how dangerous his "taste" is. Then again, I think it's obvious that the show wanted us to scorn and laugh at them.

I agree. God forbid if they made her breast bigger than the manga which I know nothing of.

they did, is one of the things I dodn't like, waaay to big it's horrible.

they did, is one of the things I dodn't like, waaay to big it's horrible.Dammit. So they did make it bigger. It doesn't even look human anymore :upset:.

Dammit. So they did make it bigger. It doesn't even look human anymore :upset:.

The only thing worse now would be inconsistency :heh:

Viewers be forgiven if they thought the childhood friend was a middle schooler.

The first chapter was more funny, this one besides that tri-force parody and the kira parody that never get's old.

I still don't like they try and put ranko and nene just like that and make any scene for them.

This show feels so bipolar, it's either trying to be a sweet romcom about not prejudging people but then it gets into a prevy ecchi mood which feels off putting to me. I'm going to keep watching because Yukana seems like a good character and the MC has moments too

I'm going to keep watching because Yukana seems like a good character and the MC has moments tooAll the ecchi parts came from the MC's fantasy though which (considering his age, interest and hormone) is perfectly understandable and also part of the plot where he will (hopefully) learn to gradually keep it down with all the sex stuffs and understand Yukana's personality more as the story progresses.

But the harem aspect is what concerns me. That's a lot of girls we saw in the OP & ED. Will all of them genuinely fall for him?

See I'm perfectly happy if this is what happens

As long as it doesn't put the main couple on the back burner for the whole season has been done countless times in the past so they can focus on the harem girls with stories that go no where

I rather enjoy this, mainly due to Junichi and his friends' exaggerated reactions to everything.

Seriously, those friends of his are complete and utter trash shit bags.

You guys basically entrap him into asking a girl out and when that happens you treat him like shit!
GTFO!!

Other than the pacing in the episodes are pretty slow it's been ok. Manga is a lot better, the ordering of things is not out of whack either.

Calling people around her servants, but it was just all in her head.
Quite the delusion, I wonder what would happen if she say all these thoughts out loud?
And her online name is Boa.
What? No, not that BoA, but Boa, and the food is Boba.

I actually feel bad for Junichi, there's like already his friends callling him a virgin and now two more girls callng him that!!!?
So what is a virgin anyway?
No forget it, but how is it that that being a virgin is a bad thing?
Not only the boys, Junichi's friends, but the girls as in Junichi's enemies treating virgins lowly, as if they all are not.

Hmm, for me it seemed like she's been used to not having any real friends that she's caused herself a delusion that they're all her servants to cope maybe?
Junichi is special I guess.

Boa boba?

I think it's Bo@ so Bo at I guess?

lolz

sorry Was totally baiting someone so I could say that.

This is so badly scripted, paced, and cliched that I could not even last half the first episode.

This is so badly scripted, paced, and cliched that I could not even last half the first episode.

I agree, mostly because of the changes that made the arc look strange though. It was supposed to be a lot darker.

Well there is a lot actually. Kashii's Arc was a lot shorter and moreover not due yet.
There is something else that should have been in between that substancially shortened it too.

Differences not necessarily in cchronolocial order:

- Char X actually was pissed at the MC here because of Kashii
- Yama and the MC were actually fighting, partly due to him forgetting their 3month anniversary. (seriously girls?)
- Kashii offered him some help with Yame during that shopping thing, where he wanted to buy something specific (keeping that silent in case it gets mentioned later)
- Said shopping trip was much more like a real date
- on the way back they happened to meet Yame and Ranko in a couple park where she 'taunted Yame' (note the MC didn't even know Yame was there) only to make fun of how much luck she had there on her stream.
- Kashii actually wanted to add his friends to her squad/royal guard, rather than considering them to be part of it.
- There was no video of their time together
- Kashii was pretty much about to rape the MC, before Ranko jumped down
- There was only Ranko on the roof with them, Kashii doesn't know the MCs friends know, nor were they on the roof.

I guess they did this so they can go nuts with the arc they skipped for now later. :heh:
I jsut hope they don't reverse Kashii's role with another now...

Junichi is lame. Even his friends are more interesting than he is. There is no reason why everyone is fawning over such a pathetic character and its starting to become annoying.

Actually there is one thing he is good at, being nonthreatening. Which if you are a young girl nervous about romance might be very attractive.

What a blunt SAO reference LOL
Edit:
This is also very anime original, at least at the current state of the manga

Yame actually wanted to go to Paris, until she saw how expensive that actually is
There was no King game
The two of them were going alone

Strangely though He does look good in it.

lol I liked how Yame knew Junichi took one for the girls, saving them. Brought a smile to my face.

And OMG Kashii is so cute!!! Totally awesome and she kneed Junichi in the face HAHA! The baby talking Yui was so adorable imo.
Kashii is best girl for me so far.

^
Imho its just sad that he actually took the fall for Kashi too.

Basically the only reason she hasn't broken them up by now is plot armor. That goes for both the manga and anime btw.

What Kashii did was basically bad, but I can't really hate her though.
I might just be desensitized but it's far from the worst things she could have done.
She was direct with her feelings and let him know. Heck he even confirmed that he found her attractive. The point is though he does have his Girlfriend now so he's being loyal to her out of his love for her.

We can only wait and see what happens down the road at this point.

No, because I've read the manga first.

Ep 7

Why is Masou Gakuen HxH the only real LN shown, while the others are parodies? :heh: Also, I get Masou Gakuen HxH, High School DxD and Shinmai Maou no Testament, but Nourin isn't really that ecchi.

Is everything okay? I know the animation quality hasn't been good in a while, but I think at least half of episode 7 was spaghetti?

when did kashii start liking junichi. Just a few episodes ago, she wanted to make him submit to her as some sort of pet. unless she thinks that's romantic.

From the very beginning actually - She is basically supposed to be something like an empress character.
But again, a lot of her content got cut and changed to include the MCs friends.

What I find interesting was that each of the girls' personality is similar to the girl in the HxH novel part they were reading.

Aine = Yukana
Yurishia = Ranko
Hayuru = Yui
Silvia = Nene

You failed Aine and Silvia tho.

Their faces looked kind of off when the the characters were in the background. Such lazy drawing.

So much anime original content in this episode...
that guy completely took over Kashii's of almost breaking them up.

Anime-Original Ending, so it seems.

OMG, lol, Mokou voiced one of the characters in ep 9. :heh::heh::heh:
Is he really trying to be a seiyuu?:heh:

http://i.imgur.com/oggFjon.jpg

That scumbag is gonna pay dearly for messing around the NTR thing. Time for 1 v 1 next time.

Shinpei is the best among the baka trio.

That scum is going to PAY. I hope he enjoy his upcoming dental implants.

5/10

Well, the problems...

-To be honest, the plot around after half-way was considerably... meh. The black-haired girl was especially just... there... during this half

-The animation quality was.... very bad. I mean, this wasn't just one scene or two scenes. The fact that this anime is fanservice-y means that is is just that much important that the characters look... well, at least normal. That scene where their legs were fat during the beach scene was so facepalm.

-Seriously, the pedophile was not that funny.

Other than that... Well, it was okay, really. Not much to say. Not a good advertisement either.
Oh, but I did get a laugh at Mokou voicing a character. For people that don't understand what I mean, imagine a Youtuber who you sometimes watch. And then you see their name in the credits. Yeah.:heh:
