Fitafy: A new FITNESS focused dating app launches in Australia
A new dating app designed to connect active singles with other like-minded individuals who value health, fitness and wellbeing has launched in Australia.
Named Fitafy, the app focuses on shared interests and connection rather than just looks.
Fitafy functions in a similar format to common dating apps where users swipe right for 'yes' and left for 'no'.
Once both users' swipe 'yes' they are notified of a match, and they can connect through messages.
Users can also filter by individual preferences, such as running, cross-fit and weights training, as well as nutrition preferences.

Founder Brendan McCormack, from Perth, developed the app after a large audience of fitness enthusiasts on social media were asking him for advice on how to meet other fit and healthy people.
To create a world-class app, Brendan and the Fitafy team secured over $500,000 in seed capital to commence development of the app.
The team partnered with respected developers Appsauce who have built apps for the likes of Kanye West and Manchester City, and 173Tech, whose co-founder Candice Ren developed and scaled the analytics function at dating apps Bumble and Badoo.
Post-development, the Fitafy app launched nationally in late October 2020 in Australia, with plans to launch globally in 2021.

The new app is designed to be inclusive of all genders, sexualities and abilities – as long as you're over 18
'Fitafy's mission is to connect people who share the same values, a love of exercise and an active lifestyle, and they have the option to filter their searches based on this,' Brandan said.
'We would never want to reduce people down to that superficial level of just a picture, age, name and location.
'Fitafy is here to help the world embrace an active and healthy lifestyle; It's about taking that idea of fitness out of a limited stereotype and instead to reflect the millions of people who identify with that lifestyle in a plethora of ways.'

Once users find a potential match, Fitafy sends recommended cues and assists in helping to make the early stages of introductions and organising dates much more manageable.
Fitafy is free to download on both Apple and Android, but an ongoing subscription fee must be paid every one, three or six months.
