Dating a guy from harvard

In our hypercustomized culture, a couple of Harvard Business School grads are banking on single women looking to craft the perfect spouse — right down to his perfect alma mater.

Which alma mater? Take a guess.

"Many women who are highly driven, ambitious and have a lot going on want to meet men who share the values inherent in Harvard's lifestyle," says co-founder Beri Meric. "Love of learning, intellectual curiosity, drive and determination."

Behold DateHarvardSQ.com, a new site that introduces "discerning" women to male Harvard students and alumni whom they may not otherwise meet.

"These are very busy guys that have a lot going on, just like a lot of the women who want to meet them," says co-founder Philipp Triebel. "They may not have time to date through traditional channels. But once they've found a woman, they're absolutely great partners that really support their partners and care for them financially, as well as with everything else they can share."

The site is free for Harvard guys; women pay $20 to $50, depending on the length and level of subscription. The fee buys access to an ongoing list of eligible matches; the men can't see a woman's profile unless she contacts him.

"It really puts women in the driver's seat," says Triebel. "They can see how active a Harvard man is in his community and which of the matches they want to contact. And we verify that the guys are Harvard educated and do quality screenings to make sure they are real and their profiles are legit."

The founders say they're aware their site may strike some as a tad elitist — not to mention chauvinistic — but they swear it was born of the best intentions. Plans are in the works, they say, to launch similar sites for Harvard women and Harvard's gay community early next year.
